California Early Childhood Online (CECO): To support early childhood teachers, the California Early Learning and Development System provides an integrated set of modules based on state-of-the-art information for early learning and development and best practices in early education. CECO provides free access to professional learning in one centralized location to meet the ever-changing needs of the early childhood field.
CompSAT - Dual Language Development: CompSAT puts practical self-reflection and assessment and tools into your hands to help you assess your knowledge, skills, and dispositions in the 12 California ECE Competencies.
Dual Language Learners PD: The California Department of Education, Early Learning and Care Division (CDE/ELCD) offers the Dual Language Learners Professional Development Program (DLL-PD) including SEAL, CSU Channel Islands, and more.
Multilingual Education: CDE's mission is to equip students with world language skills to better appreciate and more fully engage with the diverse mixture of cultures, heritages, and languages found in California and the world, while also preparing them to succeed in the global economy.
Dual Language Learners: Desired Results, in partnership with the California Department of Educationand the WestEd Center for Child & Family Studies, has information on understanding dual language development, assessing and supporting dual language learners, and even more resources.
Dual Language Learner Supports: The Dual Language Learner Supports tool promotes full implementation of research-based strategies that ensure DLLs have full access to and effective participation in the daily learning experiences. Coaches and educators can use the tool to review instructional practices, identify children’s strengths, and plan for next steps.
Early Childhood Learning & Knowledge Center (ECLKC) - Culture & Language: Across early childhood systems and programs, managers and staff must be prepared to enhance experiences for the growing number of young children who are learning their home languages and English. Administrators, teachers, caregivers, and families can use these resources to help ensure culturally and linguistically appropriate services for all children birth to 5. These resources can also help staff provide high quality services for children who are dual language learners (DLLs).
Habla DLL providers bilingual resources for parents, early childhood educators, and therapists to promote the language and literacy skills of young children who are DLL.
